Eskaton is an independent nonprofit corporation which began in 1968 and serves seniors through more than 25 senior residences ranging from affordable housing to independent, assisted living and skilled care settings. Eskaton provides an array of community services and programs in northern California including home health care, adult day services, care management, moving coordination, information and referral, and telephone reassurance services. Founded in 1936 with the mission of assisting refugees from Nazi persecution, Selfhelp now provides extensive community-based programs and services at 23 sites across four boroughs of New York and Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Selfhelp's services are available to the elderly, homebound, and families in crisis, regardless of race, national origin, or religious affiliation. Selfhelp is the largest provider of services to Nazi victims in North America. American Baptist of the West (ABHOW) runs affordable housing communities and retirement communities in several western states. ABHOW opened its first community in 1949 in Los Altos, Calif., that pioneered offering multiple levels of living and health care.
