Sleep deprivation is a common problem in the industrialized world. The National Sleep Foundation (NSF) reports that for adults to function properly they
should obtain 7-9 hours or more of sleep per night [1]. According to the 2005 “Sleep in America” poll conducted by the NSF, about 26% of adults are getting at least 8 hours of sleep a night during the week, while 49% do so on
weekends.
